Inspired by a Line from Steel Magnolias, Not that I Admit to Having Ever Watched that Movie
This is the Ten Quote Movie Meme. Hereinafter are ten quotes from ten different movies. I love these particular quotes and the movies they come from. The fun part is you play along and comment if you know which movie the quote is from. Then we realize that we heart the same movies and might could be BFF and maybe get some frappucinos. No pressure about the BFF thing.
- “How many husbands have you had?” “Mine or other womens?” “Yours.” “Five.” “Five?!” “Yes, just the five. Husbands should be like kleenex: soft, strong and disposable.”
- “Strange things are afoot at the Circle K.”
- “I saved Latin. What did you ever do?”
- “We have to first get out of this bar, then hotel, then city, then the country. Are you in or out?”
- “Look, we can’t do this twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.” “Why not?”
- “Give me a reason. I beg you.”
- “Oh God, oh God, we’re all going to die?”
- “I’m kidnappin’ myself and I’m takin’ the ship with me. Woo! C’mon!”
- “Hey guys. Just wanted to let you know that the reactors won’t take it. Ship is breaking apart and all that. Just FYI.”
- “Shall quips and sentences and thse papers bullets of the brain awe a man from the career of his humor? No. The world must be peopled!”
And the secret at the end of the meme is that I don’t know what my favorite Steel Magnolias quote is. It’s a tie between, “You are a pig from hell!” And, “I’m not crazy! I’ve just been in a very bad mood for the last 40 years!”
Y’all’s turn.
Ohhhhh, #2 is from Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure! And I think it was the title of a post at the carnage once. :D I’m much more comfortable with the BFF than the frappucinos by the way. Coffee was a practical joke that the world didn’t get.

5 is Secretary. 9 is Galaxy Quest. 7 is much too easy.

#1 is from Clue
#6 is obviously Snape in Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban
now we can be all BFF and trade hair secrets.

#8 is from Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. And I don’t have hair secrets to share but can I still be in the BBF club?

I am so BFF with all y’all. Somebody needs to figure out 3, 4 and 10. This is fun. Everybody play!

Ok, 3 is Rushmore. That’s interesting because I considered doing mine using only quotes from Bill Murray movies. Instead, I just used the one. hint hint. :D

I’m just guessing, but I think 10 is Quills. And somehow I have this feeling that my husband will know the others, as they just seem like Scott quotes.

Your Steel Magnolias quote reminds me of one from Wayne’s World. “I thought I had mono for a whole year once. Turns out I was just really board.”

#10: Much Ado About Nothing
Recognized a few others—but I’m stumped on #4
Comment by Nicole on January 25, 2006 at 3:16 pm
Ha! I claim number 4 as a direct shout-out to me. Bill Murray to Scarlet Johansen in Lost In Translation. ‘Cause I love my angsty intropsection.
Comment by maguinan on January 25, 2006 at 4:56 pm
Nicole is right– it’s Much Ado About Nothing. Close, though, Rachael. It has that oldness to it. Though if I had to pick a line from Quills it would be a tie between, “Ah, you’ve come to read my trousers” and “Is it still a sin, Abbe, if you only put it in her mouth?!”
And mag is right– #4 is a direct shout-out to her, and look! It worked! The ineffable maguinan graces us with her presence for twenty six words and a number. And for that I also considered, “Enjoy my jacket, which you stole from me.” Or maybe, “Lip them?!” but not really.
Woo! Fun!

Oh well, that’s what I get for guessing. :)

Rush Almighty, not to burst your bubble, but make sure you read that entrie thread. And do follow the links to the discussion about this on whedonesque, as well as the chat transcripts they have on that new firefly message board.
While the thought of another season of Firefly might be exciting, this is not what is going to lead to it.

I thought surely someone would have gotten “Serenity” by now (#7). The only other one I knew was “Rushmore” (#3).
Comment by M@ on January 26, 2006 at 1:25 pm
StringSlinger said, “7 is much too easy.” Which I think was his way of saying, “Sarah? Please. Try harder.” Or if I’m putting arrogant words into his mouth, I like to think of it as him saying, “Sarah? You’re my kind of people.” And our kind is very, very faceitious! It’s why we had to leave fireflyfans.net
Comment by Sarah on January 26, 2006 at 2:03 pm
The second thing. I’m not denying my arrogance generally, mind you, but my comment was more about the bond of rabid fandom between all of us.

Ohhhh! My bubble is burst! Whatever.
